AOL LIGHTS

AERIAL SIGNALING SYSTEM FOR
AIR TRAFFIC, CONTROL AND COMMAND
ELEMENTS, AND ACCESSORIES

What are AOL Lights?

AOL Lights, for aerial traffic lighting, are lighting systems designed to signal vertical structures such as wind turbines, bridges, cranes, chimneys, and skyscrapers, which may pose a potential danger to passing aircraft. The purpose is to make these structures clearly visible and identifiable to pilots in flight.

The technical specifications and installation of AOL Lights are governed by international guidelines established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or, in some countries, by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In Italy, the regulation of Obstacle Lights must also comply with the regulations of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC)

AOL Baglem® Lights

Thanks to the patented vertical modular system, AOL Baglem® Lights consist of two stacked and independent watertight chambers that house the main light and the emergency light, respectively. Unlike other lighting systems, in the event of a failure of the operational light, the patented vertical modular system Baglem® automatically activates the emergency light. Being independent and redundant, the emergency light continues to ensure proper signaling with a 360º beam of light, ensuring adequate illumination.

AOL Lights Installation - Building Marking

Tall structures and buildings, whether temporary or permanent, that may pose a hazard to air traffic or interfere with navigation operations, should be illuminated.

The number of levels of AOL Lights for aerial traffic lighting to be installed depends on the height of the structure, and the number and arrangement of AOL Lights for each level should be positioned to ensure visibility from every angle.

We provide a visual representation of how the lights should be installed. This is only a general indication, and we recommend referring to the regulations of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) for more precise guidance

Patented Vertical Modular System Baglem®

BAGLEM® has patented a vertical modular system upon which our lights are designed. This system, featuring two separate watertight chambers, ensures a 360° beam of light even in the event of a system failure.

Image

Main lighting system

If the system is fully functional, Baglem® AOL Lights emit a 360º beam of light, making it visible from every angle and direction in which an aircraft may approach.

Partially malfunctioning lighting system

In case of a partial malfunction of the system, thanks to the patented vertical modular system BAGLEM®, the emergency light automatically activates. Being independent and redundant, it continues to ensure proper signaling.

Image

The most common obstacle marking systems
in case of malfunction

Baglem® has studied and patented its vertical modular system to overcome the serious issues that products on the market until that time created in case of failure or malfunction, as they did not guarantee a 360º beam of light. Thanks to this vertical modular system, Baglem® has resolved a significant safety problem for aircraft in flight and has become a reference point in today's aviation market with its patents.

Image

First traditional system with side-by-side lights

In case of malfunction in the traditional system with side-by-side lights, the malfunctioning light creates a shadow cone that compromises obstacle signaling, resulting in serious hazards for flight.

Second traditional system with stacked lights

In case of a short circuit of the main light in a traditional system with stacked lights, the smoke generated compromises the intensity of the emergency light, posing a serious danger to passing aircraft.
